June JATC Monthly Meeting

This past Sunday, the Jaguar Autosport & Touring Club (JATC) gathered to enjoy a two-part event, starting with a beautiful drive to and tour of the Ribault Club on Fort George Island and concluding at a club-favorite dining spot, the Palms Fish Camp off Hecksher Drive. We were honored to have a roster of 32 guests join the event, including a few new faces that we hope to see again soon.

Some of our members started the morning off with a short convoy from the Gate Station next to I-295 up to Fort George Island, joining others at the beautiful Ribault Club. The circular drive in front of the iconic club was filled with Jaguars, making for a great photo opportunity for owners and admirers alike.

Inside the mansion, we were greeted by the friendly staff, including the Park Service General Manager, Marie Thompson. Marie kindly allowed us to make use of the spacious ballroom, where she regaled us with the history of the area that was once inhabited by Timucuan tribes. She then discussed the opening of the Ribault Club in 1928 for society’s most affluent families and concluded with the club’s impeccable restoration after years of abandonment. Marie then left us to hold a short club meeting, where we introduced some new faces to the club, spoke briefly on the new website, and discussed upcoming events. Afterwards, the club was free to explore the Ribault Club, enjoying the classic architecture intermingled with stunning views from every window.

Once everyone had taken their pictures and toured the grounds, we made our way to the Palms Fish Camp for a delightful lunch on the water, with plenty of time to mingle with fellow club members and guests.
