June 2026 Monthly Meeting

In what could be described as an “unofficial official” beginning of the Autosport Division of our Club, 11 Members took to the indoor Kart racing track at “K1 Speed Jacksonville” last Saturday.

Just prior to our June Monthly Meeting there, two 12 lap races were held.  The first to determine “pole” positions…and then the final race to determine the winning drivers.

Coming out as the overall winner was our “Autosport Director”, Jonathan Wentworth-Ping…now affectionately known as “Sir Stirling” (as in “Moss”).  Humbly, he accepted the winning ribbon and medallion that was placed around his neck on the medal podium at the conclusion of the race.  Coming in at a close second was seasoned race car driver and Jaguar mechanic extraordinaire, Greg Weldy, who also managed to put in the fastest lap on the track.  Filling out the top three was one of our newest members, Byron May, who fiercely challenged both Jonathan and Greg for top honors.

Not only was the field robust, Karts were driven by both male and female drivers who demonstrated various levels of driving abilities and skills…all making for entertaining and competitive racing.

Bottom line:  everyone had a great time…and all gave a hearty thumbs-up to jumping back into the driver’s seat at more of these events in the future !  And that included all the Members who attended just to take in the atmosphere of the facility…as well as to cheer-on their favorite drivers !

Your Club Officers and Directors want to thank all who attended this Monthly Meeting and Racing Event for their willingness to add even more fun and a “change-of pace” to our growing wide assortment of things to do together, while enhancing our love of all things Jaguar.

You’ll be hearing more from Jonathan and his “team” as they piece together a number of “Autosport” activities for the balance of this year…and prepare for a robust calendar in 2027.

The June 27, 2026, JATC Monthly Lunch Meeting will feature something a little different—our traditional gathering combined with an optional, high-energy INDOOR driving experience !

This month’s event will be held at “K1 Speed Jacksonville”, conveniently located just off Interstate 95.

“K1 Speed” is a premier nationally-operating indoor karting facility that offers an exhilarating racing experience with state-of-the-art, 100% electric karts capable of speeds approaching 45 mph. The professionally designed course delivers all the excitement of competitive driving in a safe, controlled environment.

Designed to whet the appetite of our Autosport-inclined folks, Members and guests who wish to participate in the driving experience will have the opportunity to take to the track beginning at 11:30 a.m., thirty minutes before the facility opens to the general public.

Note:  We have negotiated a significant discount to get you on the track.  Instead of $53 for two, 12 lap races, the price will be only $40 per person !

"Drivers" should show up at the track NO LATER THAN 11:30 THAT MORNING.  This will help  the K-1 staff prepare us for our event...and insure that things run smoothly.

It should take no longer than one hour to complete all the races...so we'll be starting our "formal Monthly Meeting" right around 12:30pm in their restaurant area, in a private room.

Following the racing activities, participants will join fellow members, not participating in the track segment, for our traditional lunch in a private meeting room within the K1 Speed facility beginning at 12:30 p.m.  The on-site restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring a variety of popular dining selections to suit every taste.  As usual, everyone pays for their own lunch.
