About the event

Lucky for JCOF and JATC members and other JCNA friends, there’s a fantastic “playground” in nearby Tavares, FL where we can play with our Jaguars. It’s the Lake County Tech Center at 13,000 Frankies Road. It’s a large, smooth, paved surface with no obstacles except for the soft orange cones that define the JCNA’s Slalom course.

Slalom, “autocross” to most auto enthusiasts, is a low-speed driving exercise through a course defined by traffic cones. From a standing start, entrants navigate the course at speeds up to approximately 35 mph, with the objective of comparing their electronically recorded time to complete against their own, and that of others in the same class. Slalom is a JCNA competition program where Jaguar drivers of all abilities can exercise their “cats” in a controlled environment with the only preparation being adding pressure to the tires, and donning a helmet. Since the same format is followed by all JCNA affiliates, times are  compared nationally, and annual prizes awarded. The Slalom is great fun for the participants and spectators alike.

Please pre-register per the flyer, and join us on November 15th. You can drive directly to the site on Saturday morning, or join us on Friday evening for dinner at O’Keefe’s Irish Pub in Tavares, and stay overnight nearby, at the Comfort Inn hotel with the event’s organizers.  Although all members’ cars are acceptable, JAGUARS are strongly encouraged. A free luncheon will be available at Ian Crawford’s lakeside home immediately following the slalom.
